This three day Murchison Falls safari will include a boat trip, nature walk, a hike to the top of the falls, a visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary plus an amazing game drive – the park is dominated by green vegetation and flourishing borassus grassland, which has attracted various animals, as you shall see.

Brief outline:

Day 1: Head to Murchison Falls National Park & visit the top of the falls
Day 2: Boat ride, nature walk & game drive
Day 3: Head to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary & back to Kampala

Day 1: Head to Murchison Falls National Park & visit the top of the falls

After an early breakfast, you will depart from Kampala and head to North Western Uganda, stop over for have lunch in Masindi town before continuing to the largest National Park in Uganda. As you enter the park, the first fascinating sight that you will take in will be the visit to the top of the falls. You will later check in to the lodge.

Day 2: Boat ride, nature walk & game drive

After breakfast, you will set out on an early game drive through the plains of the park to see the many animals  such as Elephants, Buffalos, Lions and Giraffes to mention but a few. The Black Chested Snake Eagle, Marshal Eagles Carmine, Swallow Tailed Bee-Eaters and the Secretary Bird are some of the many bird species that are in this park.

After lunch, take a boat ride to the point where the Nile pours out into Lake Albert or alternatively cruise to the bottom of Murchison Falls to view the thunderous waters of the Nile burst out of a 7 meter gorge.

The flowing Nile is a haven of Africa’s largest crocodile and hippopotami population and a variety of stunning water birds like the rare shoebill stork. On the banks of the Nile you will see big hippos and giant crocodiles in the water and many other animals lazily grazing. That will be all for the day and after that, you will head back to the lodge, relax and have dinner.

Day 3: Head to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and then back to Kampala

Enjoy an early breakfast and head straight to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and visit the beautiful Rhinos. Learn a thing or two about these beautiful creatures. This sanctuary was established for breeding white and black rhinos and to reinstate the once endangered species which faced a lot of poaching in the 1980’s. Alternatively, you may stay and take a nature walk in the park and have lunch before the drive back to Kampala.
